#Gabon: Conspiracy to kill journalists: «Killing us won't solve that much» - Echos du Nord No 206 November 18 2013

Killing us won’t solve that much...

The reckoning. This is the path that was taken to reduce forever to silence Jonas Moulenda and Désiré Ename, Journalists at «Echos Du Nord» (Echos of the North) and Jean de Dieu Ntoutoume Eyi, Journalist at Ezombolo - Both newspapers are very critical of the Bongo regime. The intention is brutal and barbaric. It reveals the whole reality of someone thinking that Gabon is at her feet, each Gabonese is an accessory or a cloth on which she wipes her shoes. No one has rights, except herself. In this role, one can believe awkwardly she is above the state. That person is mistaking big time and should be back to reality. Too many who are forced to believe in her, made her believe too much that she was the reason of all things, by pure flattery and adulation because of the personal interests those sycophants benefit or have benefited from. In reality it is a life of illusion. Unfortunately for her, this is the face of this dramatic life of illusions that has became a real world and taken over to the point of convincing her that physically eliminating Gabonese, especially journalists, her life will still always be like a flow of a tranquil river. All of this is illusion and dangerous beliefs. This path strewn with filthy acts necessarily has its price.

Believing to be the one who measures the severity of things; heralding the reasons of the state; and drawing the conclusion on behalf of the reasons of the state, that it must use violence. To what end ? If not only to wreak hatred and revenge for personal use; far from being the reasons of state. Gravity in this case, something we’ve always denounced, is the tribalisation of the military. Two military bodies of so-called 3rd class are comprised, in majority, with people from the same ethnic group. This is the Republican Guard (Garde Républicaine) protecting the president and the Red Berets (also closed to the protection of the president), and in the latter case, an elite troupe was recently established, composed of the same ethnic group. The consequences of this state of affairs are the comforts that can make this «securocracy». She feels entitled to systematically give orders to the military, without worrying that by this act, she replaces the president and denies him his prerogatives as Commander in chief of the Armed forces. And the military who participated in the plan, submitting to her orders, turned away from their public missions that should be coming from their higher commandment, on the top of which is the Supreme Commander in chief of the Armed forces, Ali Bongo Ondimba. They simply come to commit an act of high treason. Someone who speaks all the time about the rule of law must draw the necessary conclusions. Otherwise, it will be recognized that he is nothing.

Jonas Moulenda, Jean De Dieu Ntoutoume Eyi and Désiré Ename, are "wounds" and "threats" to the power of Ali Bongo. But who is really dangerous for this regime?

Someone who believed that murdering journalists is a way of solving problems, does not understand that it is through this method that fire would be set to the a house she thinks is fully protected against sharp pens of these journalists. It was not just a conspiracy against them. But a plan to destabilize the president by his own matrix and put his power at risk. One suspects that murdering journalists, and not the least, and certainly three of the most prominent of the Gabonese press right now, would not leave anyone indifferent in the country. Therefore, it is not excluded that the real plan was to undermine the president and institutions. For a case conducted with such professionalism, ordinary Gabonese would have fingered Ali Bongo Ondimba as the perpetrator. What would the international community think of that President killing journalists in his country ? What difference would have made compare to what just happened in Mali, where colleagues Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon fell under the bullets of cowardly terrorists ? A President and cowardly assassins, like the terrorists, that's what his parents, who claim to defend its interests and act on behalf of him, wanted to be retained in the history books.

The story is nevertheless instructive, even if she does not care about history. This is where bin Laden killed nearly 4,000 people on American soil on September 11, 2001 and signed his death warrant. What has it been ? 10 years into hiding like a rat and finally shot that day of the 5 May 2011 . His body ended up in the belly of sharks. Unburied. The author of the murder of Jean Hélène , an Ivorian policeman, had no support from peers or anyone; Gbagbo was extradited due to the massacres perpetrated by soldiers under his command, including the disappearance of journalist Guy-André Kieffer. The murderers of Norbert Zongo, military people, have all been arrested. As for the sponsor, close to Blaise Compaore, President of Burkina Faso, he lives his life holed up under the cloak of immunity. A temporary escape. Shoot down a journalist will never be a simple act.

As Journalists, we are not afraid to be killed. Killing us will do so little. To curb the press, there is no better thing then more freedom of the press, even to excess, as basically said Paul Mba Abessole. We believe that the accomplices of the regime should put this into practice.

What bothers this much? Remembering the regime its accountability to the people of Gabon ? Pull the alarm when taxpayers' money is the mess of a bunch of friends and villains ? Report abuse of entrepreneurs because we are the mother of... when in fact the country's economic policy is precisely to attract investors ? What bothers so much? Recall the duty of some citizens to submit to the decrees of the head of state instead of the show they give in challenging him as we have seen most recently in the Caistab case because someone is the big brother of ... ? Reporting on emblezzlement and other diversions in the country, is what bothers so much? How do you think we should be silent when Gabonese, the voiceless, died in landslides and floods? Do they deserve it ? Are you not ashamed of this country, so rich and is still not able to give to the little million citizens minimal good living conditions ? Fill the few thousand of students with desks, classrooms and teachers in sufficient numbers ? Everyone was not "born before the shame".

Reporting is our duty and we will always denounce. We will continue to "write without fear". This was recommended by the United Nations (UN). It is our duty. And on this, the vision of people of Gabon, the voiceless for whom our lives are in danger, is unequivocal. No offense to the one who thinks we can dispense death as we give bones to dogs. To her we just want to remind that we are all, including her, "Metec me Ayane", "those that Soil awaits". Meanwhile, the quest for repentance is probably the only viable outcome that remains for her. Let’s be wise...

One should remember that this article constantly refers to a «She». Echos du Nord has clearly indicated that the woman behind the conspiracy to kill the 3 Journalists, is no other than Patience Dabany, mother of «President» Ali Bongo of Gabon.

#Gabon: Poor families; favorite targets for ritual killings

(Warning: graphic image)

The poorest among people of Gabon are the favorite targets of the perpetrators of ritual murders. People of Gabon need to stand up and fight to eradicate these satanic practices that endanger children and youth across the country. The world is also invited to support the people of Gabon, as some are Gabonese are threatened of death because they dare talk about ritual killings.

With these pictures we want to show a case of recent ritual killing of a 4 years old girl, Catherine. Her mom is devastated and wants the whole world to know what happened to her daughter she will never see again! Augustine Bendome leaves in very difficult conditions (see pictures) as too many Gabonese do, despite oil and other natural resources revenues gain in billions every year by Gabon government. All the money is going in pockets of corrupt politicians, in particular the Bongo family in power for more than 45 years, who are also knows as sponsors of those vicious and barbaric crimes against children and other human beings in Gabon.

Silence and passivity are not options.

Ritual killings need to stop in Gabon!

#Gabon: And if we disobeyed more often!

And if we disobeyed more often!

In a Republic where everyone has the right to do anything, where laws and the rights of citizens are just prose on paper, it is necessary that the arbitrariness takes place because of the ability of authorities to enforce laws that establish their domination and do not fit into the people interest and we know they hit the limits of what is supposed to be correctly acceptable in a society. It is necessary that people clearly let authorities know that even with the delegation of their power that enables them govern, the red line of that representative power can not be crossed forever. It is even indispensable that these laws are violated since they are designed to protect the dominance of a ruling class and they are not whatsoever protecting basic human goals and choices of the general population.

The local elections approaching leads us to a small part of our electoral law but has serious consequences in that it closes the access of the population to election results. It is that (in)famous rule , that breathtaking exclusivity granted to the Ministry of the Interior , through the «Independent» and Permanent National Electoral , for the dissemination of voting results.

This law that we copied to other, is valid in continent-type or sprawling countries. Where, because of the time difference and distance, elections continued in one part of the country when they were completed in another. It is supposed to be ensuring the personal and individual nature of the vote, and preserving the voting process of any herd or reactionary influence.

What is this law among us where this harmonization and protection constraint does not exist? What time is it in Booué when closing time of polling is set in Libreville ? What time is it in Eboro when polling stations close in Ndindi ? Exactly the same. The recounts take place simultaneously in the country and voting offices’ minutes signed at the same time. Publishing election results in one part of the country before another has absolutely no effect on the election process (all voting boots should close at the same time all other the country).

What should we understand by «dissemination» here ? Where objectively the legislature intended to say «official proclamation», the overzealous administration and some of its officials heard «disclosure of voting trends from electoral offices», under the pretext that one or many pranksters could cause public disorder order by publishing false results. This means that the Ministry of Interior itself forbids us to share election results with our friends from distant immediately after we get them from electoral offices where we ourselves voted. Has there not been the corresponding Africa 24 being threatened with expulsion from Gabon for giving results of some polls during the last presidential elections ?

This is reinforced, exacerbated by deliberately delaying the proceedings as the vote recount. We do not even see which proceedings since the ballots are supposed to be destroyed in the electoral offices at the end of the counting which is done on site. Recount the votes which are no longer available is an heresy. As well as readditioning and recalculationing percentages already carried out in the polls is an insult to the tellers who were chosen simply to count and add upstream on the ground, and have already done that. The population generally shares the point of view that the additional time that the government gives to itself is used primarily to validate the manipulation off polls that occur during the transportation of results from the polling stations to the local, provincial or national election commission. It is during this transfer that already stuffed hacked ballot boxes are introduced into the circuit to replace the real ones which were in electoral offices. It is during this waiting period that the calculations are modified, as false reports that the tellers do not see or recognize are written and often presented without their signatures, and that requires them to confirm by affixing again their signature when they are supposed to have done that immediately after the vote in the place of voting. Clearly, it is during this period of uncertainty that the tampering takes place on a large scale, the nominees are elected back in the saddle despite their defeat at the polls. This explains the often inconceivable differences recorded between the numbers of chairmen of the opposition parties and even the candidates themselves exhibit as they have been transmitted to them by their representatives in electoral offices, and those officially published . The law is there to prevent us to counter this abhorrent practice to impose the shameful statement that will dictate the Interior Minister, member of the winning party and therefore he is not neutral in an election which he may not be candidate of, but he has a longevity in the position that guarantees a win of his political party. It is this practice that makes the PDG (party in power) is getting the false so-called fame machine win election, far behind the billions thrown into the public consciousness in purchases and advertising gadgets, and expensive campaign that most influence the vote of citizens for ages.

If habits remained, because maintained and improved in order to sustain their «return on political investment», the environment in which we operate has evolved. The prophecy of the Canadian sociologist Robert McLuhan that already announced in the early 80s the advent of a global village has became a reality. Geographical and ideological boundaries of access to information has exploded. The distances between the facts and the public have disappeared because of the speed of transmission and reception. Miniaturization of media and means of transmission has further accentuated this democratization. Today, social networks on the Internet mean that each of us becomes a source of information more or less reliable. SMS, Facebook and Twitter among other favored and accompanied by social and political upheavals that leaders failed to prevent, because they do not see them coming in time. Because most importantly, these information channels had missed and continue to elude them because of the spontaneity of the transmission and reception of personal network members.

This is the way we must refuse to enforce this law on the prohibition to publish the results of our votes before the Ministry of the Interior does. Because this vote is ours. Because the population to whom belongs exclusively the choice of its leaders: it's us. Because we are the first affected by the choices we make and that we have the duty to defend in their compliance with our aspirations. Because nobody else but us will never be entitled to impose choices that we have not made and that we would willingly assumed they had coincided with the truth that we have slipped in the polls. We must use the transmission channels offered to us by the modern technology and for which use we joined in taking a subscription with operators which have an obligation to provide the services we have purchased from them.

Gemalto, a world leader in digital processing of personal data is seeing its image and international credibility dent dangerously for agreeing to support the Gabonese regime in a biased electoral biometrics. Airtel, Etilasat and Azur are certainly not taking the same risk to be in some difficulties within the global market because of Gabon, a small market of a million and half people who are not also all active clients. They will never dare cut the phone, SMS and Internet connections in the evening of the next local elections in Gabon, because they would want to prevent the population of exchanging actual results of their own poll.

#Gabon-Ritual killings: A young man killed and his blood drained near Malinga

A young man killed and his blood drained near Malinga

Gabon. November 05, 2013. A young man of 22 years old, Virgil Bikou Malessa, was murdered and his blood drained, last week, in a forest near Malinga, the capital city of the department (county) of Louetsi-Bibaka.

According to a source close to the family, the murder was committed in the village named Mitsantsa when the victim accompanied his older brother Anstide Sheba in a forest on the edge of their village.

The gendarmerie (military police) has arrested the number one suspect. The latter allegedly used a shotgun to kill his junior brother, the source said, adding that he then drained the blood out of his body.

The battered body of young Bikou Malessa was found in the forest where his older brother took him, claiming they were going hunting. "It is not that he thought he little brother was a young animal. He deliberately opened fire on him", argued the source.

The alleged criminal, has we learned it, had initially asked his girlfriend to accompany him into the bush. But the latter, intrigued by this unusual request, appeared to be refractory to any movement in the forest.

Thus, Anstide Sheba turned to his younger brother, who finally willingly agreed to accompany his brother into the bush without any doubt about the terrible threat that «hunting» represented to him. "Arriving in the forest, he pointed the gun at his younger brother before shooting him at close range", said the same source.

On the site of the grisly discovery, traces of ritual were found. Anything that suggests that the lamplighter has not acted alone. A political leader of the country is believed to have sponsored this ritual murder.
